Choppy Faces, Smiley Faces

We had a big crew at Newport today including me, Brandon, Donnie, AJ and Chris (The Wave Warrior).  (Much like Josh, Chris will attack every wave that comes his way.)  The clouds looked rainy and the wind made for some turbulent seas.  It was totally chowder most of the time.  But the faces and shoulders were still workable on the larger set waves.  In fact, the waves were fun and constant enough that we stayed out there for a good two hours or so before calling it a day.

After about 90 minutes or so, I jumped out of the line up and grabbed my camera.  I took a few decent pics, but I did get one super sweet picture of Chris crashing the top off a wave.  Look at him defy gravity and maintain his Wave Warrior status.

Cool pics, thanks Jeff. What kind of camera are you using? See you tomorrow?

That day I happen to have my Nikon D50 with me. The real key though was the 70-300mm lens. That’s what let me get in tight on the action.

This being my first time out in about a year, the pic of me paddling is no doubt the best shot you could get of me. Man did I have a blast though. Turbulent waters be damned, I was determined to catch some stoke and that’s just what I did. Thanks for the post sesh breakfast too dude, I think I found a new favorite at Mutt’s.
