Gnarly Runs at Newport

Oh lordy, lordy, ladies and gents. This morning was borderline epic at Newport beach today. The waves were 2-4s, great A-frames, long rides, and best of all, constant sets. I barely had time to chat with Donnie or Chris (The Wave Warrior) during the whole session. The Spherical Revolver was Spherically Revolving all over those faces. I think I reached a new peak with that board today. It was one of those days where the board, the waves and I were all in sync.  I (and most everyone else out in the line up) had ear-to-ear grins the whole sesh.

I’m sorry I don’t have better pics from the session, but there was no way I was hopping out of the line up today. These were the best I could do with my iPhone after the fact.

I was out surfing yesterday, and there was still a bit of the big swell left over from earlier last week.  Left over swell tends to come infrequently.  The sets coming rolling in as they will.  One set comes.  A second set rolls through.  Three sets go by.  Then something looks amiss in deep water….
