Between the Lines – Surfers During the Vietnam War

I saw this on Foam E-Z today and though it was quite interesting.  Very broadly, this film covers the topic of surfers during the Vietnam War.  Between the Lines follows two surfers during the Vietnam War.  One surfer, Pat Farley, enlists in the army and goes over to fight in the war; the other, Brant Page, dodges the draft all together and spends his energy avoiding the government and surfing.

No doubt this film will cause some controversy.  Even today, I am seeing plenty of arguing going on in forums and comments sections of people with very strong points of view.  The downside of this is that most of these people seem to have not seen the film yet.  I’m always a sucker for a surf film that has a wider subtext than just surfing (i.e. Bustin’ Down the Door).  Between the Lines looks like it’s right up my alley and I look forward to seeing it.
