For the last week I have been battling yet another ailment (number two for this year) and as such I have spent an obscene amount of time on the couch in a fevered half-sleep. And like one does when one is sick and on the couch I have been watching an ungodly amount of television. Last time I watched all ten hours of “I Love The 70’s.” This time I gave myself a new task: watching movies I had not seen before.
First up was the 1999 thriller “Arlington Road.” You know right away it is going to be a scary, scary thriller because it stars Tim Robbins, and when I think Tim Robbins, I think scary, scary. Also, this movie stars Jeff Bridges who will always and only be The Dude to me. Granted I was phasing in and out during this movie but through 99% of it I couldn’t stand it. It went from predictable, to very predictable, to ridiculous… Then suddenly the ending happened (which I will not give away) and somehow I did not see it coming. I may be the only person who didn’t, but at least I had the thrill of the light bulb going supernova over my head. However, unless you are sick and immobile (on medication helps too), I wouldn’t bother with this one.
