Holiday music is a must during the holidays. Every year after Thanksgiving, when my wife, Miranda Kopfschmertzen, and I go out and buy wrapping paper, we always pick out a new album to add to our holiday audio treats. By now we have an impressive library. Stand out gems include Dean Martin’s “Making Spirits Bright” for its saucy rendition of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”, Vince Guaraldi Trio’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for it wicked mix of jazz genius and sweet nostalgia and Otis Redding singing “Merry Christmas, Baby.”

However, nothing makes my elf shoes start up in a frenzied Christmas jig more than James Brown’s “Soulful Christmas.” This year, I recommend everyone pick up a copy. It is totally worth 99 cent (or 990 cent if you buy the whole album, which is well worth every cent). Nothing says Christmas like funk improv.
