After watching the Eddie Aikau Memorial Big Wave surf competition live from Wiamea Bay via the Internet recently all the Portoers have been abuzz about the gnarly waves we saw and the gnarly surfers we saw charging these monsters.  Surfline.com had predicted the swell to hit in the 20-30 foot range (there was even speculation of some rogue sets in the 50 foot range!). This being an El Niño year, the swell was epic, ideal for competition. Words won’t describe this properly, but these pictures sure help!  (See all the photos at quiksilver.com or Quiksilver’s Flickr page)
