My New Surfboard

Harbour Spherical RevolverLook at my lovely new board.  Just look at it.  Lovely, isn’t it?  My wife considered calling it “The Banana Slug” but instead decided on “Saffy” which she says is short for “Safron.”

7′ 4″
Board No. 28479
yellow resin tint
16″ nose
22 7/8″ wide
15 /2″ tail
2 3/4″ thick
6/4 oz. Silane glass deck, 6 oz. Silane bottom.
Single fin.

I had not intended on buying a new surfboard.  But I was at Harbour Surfboards and they happen to be putting some surfboards on super sale.  Two things played into my rash purchase.  One, I’d been pining after this particular surfboard model (the Harbour Spherical Revolver) for literally years now.  Two, in all those years I’ve never seen them put boards on sale.  I think it was meant to be.

So the next day The Chicken Dancer and I took it out for its inaugural spin.  So impressive and fantastic was the ride that upon exiting the ocean, The Chicken Dancer had me take him to Harbour Surfboards where he also bought a board.  (Though he ended up buying a sweet 6’2″ orange Electric that was in the used rack.  It was in superb condition and a super steal.  I would have bought it myself had I not just bought a new board the day before.)  We of course immediately went right back into the ocean to try it out.

Harbour is the greatest surfshop.  The staff there is super friendly and patient, and they are crazy knowledgable about surfboards and surf equipment and what will best suit your surfing style.  If you can’t make it to the store, you can always shop Harbour online.

After meeting her in person it is obvious that she is far too groovy and graceful to be called a slug. The is actually nothing sluggish about her. She is sleek and yellow and sassy.

If I have to share my man, I am glad it is with a woman as beautiful and fun as Saffy.

And may I add my own mad props to Harbour? Even as a non-surfer, I always feel welcomed and included as part of the Harbour family when I go there.

Indeed. Harbour is bar-none the best surf shop you’ll ever visit. (Right on, Bert) Glad to see other enthusiasts say the same.
