So I’ve decided to change the rules for the cinema viewing section. It will now show the last movie I saw for the first time. That is to say, when I see a movie for the first time, I will make note of it in the cinema viewing section. I will not be making note of every viewing of the cinematic genious that is “The Big Lebowski.” If I saw it in the theater, it will be denoted with (*).
The last couple of nights my wife, Miranda Kopfschmertzen, and I have been sampling the delights of our digital cable system’s “On Demand” movies. For the same price as a DVD rental we can just demand to watch movies with the cunning use of controller buttons. “I want to see ‘Too Fast and Too Furious,’ Daddy, and I want to see it NOW!”
Two nights ago we watched Woody Allen’s latest film “Anything Else” featuring Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci. Say what you will about the alternative love choices of Woody Allen, but I do enjoy the man’s films. This one was quite funny (if you enjoy Woody Allen’s neurotic humor), though it did tend to dwell on character development at times.
Last night we saw “Down With Love” which was excellent. It is a movie I wish I had seen in the theater. However, to enjoy this film, you must first get over Renee Zellwegger’s patented “punched in the face” look, lest it send you into a perpetual tizzy. After that, this film is a hillarious ode to circa 1962 films. Bright colors, elaborate outfits, snappy dialogue, perfectly choreographed scenes… My wife, Miranda Kopfschmertzen, said it was “Pillow Talk” had the writers not been bound by the Hayes Code.
