On a goof I decided to look up my birthday on IMDB and see which celebrities share my special day. Some of these I had known, but some were a welcome new surprise.
Sammy Davis, Jr. Singer, Actor, Dancer. Sammy is the first person I ever remember sharing a birthday with. When I was little, I didn’t appreciate this properly. But now, I know, I have an “in” with the Rat Pack. I am sure this will come in handy some day. |
James MacArthur Actor. This was the biggest and most welcome surprise. DANNO! I’ve been watching Five-O (possibly the greatest show ever) since I was in Junior High. And to only now find out I share a birthday with Danno?! I found his official website and sent him a heartfelt birthday message. |
Sinead O’Conner Musician, Activist, Crazy. I don’t really have any sort of attachment to Sinead, but thought it was funny that we shared a birthday. All I have is this fact to offer you: Sinead’s big breakout hit “Nothing Compares 2 U” was written by Prince. I learned that from Pop Up Video. You can tell that the song was written by Prince because he loves to used Instant Message shorthand in his song titles. |
Ian Somerhalder Former “Lost” Cast Member. Poor Ian. Now that Shannon has been killed off on “Lost” he can’t even hope to come back in flashbacks. Ian will also serve as my “hunky” entry just in case any Tiger Beat readers are reading my blog. |
Jim Morrison Singer, Poet, Drunk. Jim would be 62 this year. Imagine a 62 year old Jim Morrison wandering around. I like to think that Jim would have re-invented himself in the glam rock scene in the 70’s. But he would still be in his one of his fat phases so that he would look super huge when on stage with pencil thin David Bowie and Iggy Pop. |
Lee J. Cobb Character Actor Extraordinaire. I am guessing that you are looking and Lee and thinking, “that guy looks familiar,” but you can’t place him. That is why he is character actor extraordinaire. Some of his more recognizable parts are in The Exorcist, the Flint movies, On the Waterfront and 12 Angry Men. If you haven’t seen any of those, definitely go out and see On the Waterfront and 12 Angry Men – PRONTO! |
Bill Bryson Writer, Traveller. I am currently reading one of his books (as you may have noticed up in the “currents”). |
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson Writer. I don’t have a picture of Bjørnstjerne as he was born in 1832, but IMDB listed him and he definitely wins the “Best Name” award for Dec. 8 birthday people. IMDB also had this to say about him – “Was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1903. Dubbed one of “the four greats” (de fire store) in Norwegian literature, together with Henrik Ibsen, Alexander Kielland and Jonas Lie.” Now we all have some talking points just in case Bjørnstjerne comes up as a subject at a party. Trouble is, I don’t imagine any of us will pronounce his name correctly. |
