Troubadours, I have taken ill of late.  It’s just a run-of-the-mill cold, but enough to keep me out of the water for a few days.  I’ve been maintaining my stoke via a bevy of surf films.  When my DVD collection ran out, I turned to YouTube and found this gem – Style Evolution: Wipeout! This one is definitely worth sharing.  It’ll both terrify and humble you.  You are reminded that the ocean is just letting you surf out there, and sometimes the ocean gets angry. Remember, even the likes of Gerry Lopez get schooled on occasion.  Luckily for you, when you eat it, there probably aren’t a couple dozen cameras trained on you clicking away paparazzi-style. Immerse yourself in schadenfreude!

From the YouTube.com description:

“The Style Evolution project pays homage to the immense treasure of surf movies over the past 50 years, many of which are sadly becoming rapidly unavailable due to new video formats. This short film is a collage of wipeouts from 19 surf movies from 1963 to 2005. Support the documentation of surfing through buying surf movies!”

I fully agree – buy surf movies.
