Rohrabacher Whinnies Nay

H.R. 503 was voted on in the house today. What is H.R. 503 you may ask? H.R. 503 is thus:

To amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes.

Two things make me laugh about this. First off, my congressman voted “Nay.” Voting nay on any manner of horse bill is just plain funny.

Secondly it would appear that my congressman is all for human consumption of horses. Granted there could be more to this bill than I know, maybe some sort of evil rider or earmark is attached to it that must be struck down. But on the surface Rohrabacher is in favor of horse consumption. (That is, he is in favor of eating horses, not horses suffering from consumption. Though he could be in favor of that too, but we can’t assume that based on this vote.)

Just for the record, this bill passed.
