Sloppy and Cold at Porto
Well, it wasn’t the greatest surf, but I did make it out today. Three others joined me to brave the cold, cold waters – Aaron, CW and Peter. Mostly the waves were chaotic slop, but we all seemed to find a few gems in there. I took the Merlin out again. For whatever reason I continue to try and ride that 10-foot-tanker like a shortboard: driving down the face of the wave into a hard bottom turn, which results in faceplant after faceplant. The negative reinforcement of the faceplant does not seem to be teaching this monkey to modify his behavior. Meanwhile, Aaron and the SeaNymph are merging into one graceful symbiotic surfing unit.
Once again, I am going to try and get out every day next week. Keep your fingers crossed! (If nothing else, I need the conditioning. My arms went to noodles too fast today.) I also have two new surf movies to watch – The Free Way and Fiberglass and Megapixels. I’ll let you know how they are.
