Episode 13 – Lucky Number Thirteen

Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving while we were on hiatus last week.  We all did, except for CW.  (Glad to see you are feeling better, dude.)  Here’s this week’s video.  We didn’t go to breakfast this morning, which means I had extra time to tinker today.  I think I went overboard.

The longboarders owned the day.  The waves were good size and strength, but due to the extreme high tide the shape was  kind of mushy.  But with a longboard, one could still paddle in and cruise until the wave developed into something more.

Looked like San O out there. Wish I paddled out this morning!

The wave shape was quite similar to San O, but with about a quarter of the ride length.

damn, conditions look good here… I need to stop relying on surfcams when deciding to go out or not. Looking through WaveWatch and Wetsand’s cams in the morning it looked like tiny, unridable small mush… haven’t gone for a week. Oh lord what have I done…

I hear you. Playing the cams and reports is a frustrating game. The best tactic is to just get out there as much as you can, and sometimes you’ll hit the motherload.

These same conditions are supposed to hold all weekend. Grab your board and paddle out!

Awesome video. What song is this?

    • Jeff on 7 December 2009 at 9:33 am

The song is called “Some Sort of Paradise” by Robin Guthrie, formerly of the Cocteau Twins. I’d been digging it ever since sneakmove.com turned me on to it.
